FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do the kits ship with batteries?
No. Base kits ship without batteries — we want you in full control of power. Drop in AAs (we recommend Energizer Ultimate Lithium for long shows) or upgrade to MicKit Power for rechargeable Li-ion + charger at +$25/week.
Shure SLX-D+ or Sennheiser EW-D — which should I pick?
Either. Same price. Same ship date. Same Point Source Audio element on every channel. Shure SLX-D+ is the RentMicKits default because the US support network is slightly denser. Pick Sennheiser if you or your FOH engineer have a preference. Both are 24-bit digital and effectively indistinguishable in rehearsal.
How fast can I get a kit?
Kits arrive 2 business days before your first rehearsal via UPS Ground. Book by 2pm ET on Wednesday for guaranteed Friday arrival for a Saturday performance. Expedited 2-day and overnight service are available for rush orders.
Why no batteries?
Two reasons. First, shipping lithium batteries is a regulatory headache and adds lead time. Second, most pro operators want to pick their own battery chemistry — Energizer Ultimate Lithium for a long matinee, alkaline for a short keynote, or rechargeable for a multi-week run. The MicKit Power upgrade is the clean answer if you want us to handle it.
What happens if something breaks?
The 8% damage waiver is mandatory and it covers normal show wear and accidental damage. Elements, bodypacks, and receivers are all covered. It does not cover loss, theft, willful destruction, or water damage beyond the case’s IP rating. Security deposit is waived if you provide a Certificate of Insurance.
Do you rent to schools?
Yes, and school rentals get an automatic 10% educational discount with an .edu email or a purchase order. We also waive the security deposit if the school provides a Certificate of Insurance naming RentMicKits as additional insured.
Can I rent just the rechargeable packs?
No — the MicKit Power upgrade is bundled with the kit rental. We don’t rent batteries a la carte.
What about outdoor events?
MicKit Premium Element upgrade swaps every channel to the Point Source GO-9WD-SH (IP57 waterproof flagship). It’s the right call for beach weddings, outdoor theatre, and any show where sweat, humidity, or rain is in play.
How do I know which kit to rent?
Channel count is the only question that matters. One speaker = MicKit 1. Two people = MicKit 2. Four leads or worship team = MicKit Pro 4. Full musical or big panel = MicKit Perform 8. Big musical, filmed show, or huge conference = MicKit Perform 16.
Can I rent for more than a week?
Yes, and we offer better effective pricing on multi-week runs — just pick your return date at checkout and the total will adjust.
